Today, Tallahassee Community College is welcoming a new chief of police on the first day of classes for the fall term.
Wesley Hardin has more than 26 years of experience in law enforcement and supervision across diverse assignments in local, county and K-12 based agencies. TCC’s new chief has a reputation for community policing and positively engaging the public to improve police and community relationships.
“I am both humbled and honored to have been chosen to join the Tallahassee Community College as the Chief of Police,” said Chief Hardin. “I look forward to working with the staff and students while providing Student Centered Services, and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. I will strive to foster positive relationships through collaboration and accessibility to help promote the success of our students.”
Chief Hardin has spent the past 13 years as the Officer-in-Charge at Gwinnett County Schools in Suwanee, GA. The K-12 school-based police department is the 13th largest in the nation, with 96 uniformed police officers protecting more than 180,000 students and 143 schools.
Chief Hardin succeeds Greg Gibson, who left TCC in November 2020 to become Chief of Investigations at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
